Parts, Parts, Parts!!!!
Well, I rather large order has been placed with Dustin at RPI Equipped that includes the Porsche shift mechanism from above, stock MkIII cables to adapt, 02J tranny rebuild with bolt kit, 2002 Jetta 1.8t(180hp) motor, all of the wiring including guages, pedal position sensor, master and slave clutch cylinders, MkIII subframe, MkII control arms, G60 spindles with new bearings and ball joints, H&R 4x100 to 5x130 hubcentric adapters, all motor and tranny mounts, lighted VR6 flywheel, HD street clutch, and various nuts and bolts. They will be arriving this Sat. so its Xmas in Feb. for me!!! It will be nice to actually see all the parts I've been planning for in my hand for once! I'll get pics up on my website as I start getting things together more.

While the motor STILL sits in my garage waiting for a home, the other somewhat less important parts(mounts, subframe, control arms, flywheel...) are still trying to make there way here. Someone's dropped the ball at RPI so I get to wait. Anyway, apparently we are on track again so this week I should see the arrival of the remaining parts.

Finally the subframe and Boxter shifter arrived, along with A3 control arms, though I ordered A2, so THAT has to be fixed. I'm really glad I'm in no hurry because these guys are really having a hard time keeping it together! Also got a Boxter E-brake handle on Ebay. The handle and shifter are now installed, and the subframe is sitting in its location. It was so nice just to place the shifter exactly where I wanted it. I really hated having to reach forward with the stock bug configuration. The E-brake is now in a great spot as well. I await all the motor mounts and brackets so I can get the engine in and look at what kind of space I have. Also made some mental progress as to the superstructure that the engine and tranny will rest in.

Its in!!! No not the engine silly, that's a long way off. The jig is in the car. It is bolted in so that the engine and tranny can be put in now. A lot of the guess work is now done, and I feel so good to have all the measurement chacked and rechecked and now solidified.

Boxter shifter now controls 02J tranny. Not pretty, but a good working mockup. Will leave it for now till other things are done then fab up a proper looking mount. No pics yet but will get there eventually. Waiting on one last motor mount to get the motor in the car for inspection.
Is O2J tranny rough into 1st gear generally? All gears are fairly smooth but I may have to increase the lever arm that controls the movement up and down of the 02J shifter shaft because currently the lateral shifter motion is very stiff, and catchy into 1st. I think an 02M is in the future. From what I can tell it is a way stronger tranny and much smoother running, along with being 6 speed!
