**August's Off-Roaders ride of the month **
Every month the Off-Road mods will ask a member to submit a pic and info for the Off-Roaders ride of the month Will a great way to show off your ride and receive the props that it is due. It will be the sticky for that month, then we will let it go and stick another one up. August will be the first month. The ride of the month will be picked by the mods using the members input ie: posting on his project, others projects, it maybe on milk crates it maybe running, that does not matter what matters is the heart put into it.
Have Seabeebuggy to thank for the killer idea. All you guys thanks for the help give on STF.

Well, guys and girls want to introduce you to Augusts Off-Road rider of the month, Namelesswonder was selected for a few reasons, She is a chick who does not give up and with the help of friends and family has stuck in there, she has heart and tenacity, for a FNG she helps out where she can. STF, give her the props she deserves. Now the hunt for next months victim.

Back in September of 2007, for reasons I can't quite remember, I decided I want to buy an air-cooled beetle. A good friend of mine, known as fusername, decided to do most of the work with me at no cost, except of course, that my car would end up being awesome (it already is, and doesn't even run). He found the car on craigslist.org, I believe. The car was named Franz, and with funding from my dad and my own paychecks every two weeks, the project began. I've been a full-time student and working part-time at school all the while, so that limits my car-time to weekends and vacations.
Original state of the car: no engine, butt cut off, baja kit, but nose not yet cut, rusted out floor sections, rusted body sections
In the beginning:

Fusername & I

After a nosejob, early 2008

Franz's butt and I!

Temp/mock-up engine, and first experiment in primer-land.
No incredibly recent pictures, didn't think to take any this weekend for some reason. But I update my build thread weekly for the most part! I hope my thread ends up being a good resource for other newbies to AC VW land. I still have no idea what I'm doing though!
Work done: fiberglass floor patch, replaced front driver's floor section, installed front turn signals & figured out wiring for those and headlights, cut the nose for fiberglass nose piece & for hood to fit, new brakelines, washerbottle installed & tested, wipers installed, SO MUCH CLEANING, engine cage put together (mostly), engine cage primered and painted, engine bought and disassembled and cleaned and new parts bought and any other status on that fusername might know, crappy body patches that we all deemed "good enough",
^this list looks a bit empty, but I've worked on it practically every weekend since I've gotten the darn car. I swear I work hard when I'm not lazy.
Plans for the future: ORANGE, install rear lights, install engine, pour in gas, try to star the car!
After that...keep it running! Good plans, ya think? I've got road trips in my future, and beyond that, I expect to never really finish with this car until I sell it!
(sorry if that ends up being incredibly lengthy!)

Great choice. Always good to see someone young involved in a good hobby, even better when it's a female into cars or bikes.
Keep working on the car and don't get frustrated with it. There are too many of us watching the progress and waiting to see the smile on your face when you take Franz on the first drive.

I'm a FNG/lurker (I posted an intro about a year ago but not much since then) but I have to agree 100% on the thought process behind this choice. I've seen many people twice the age give up after a 1/3 of the difficulty. This type of enthusiasm and perseverance is what will keep our hobby/lifestyle alive. Congrats, well deserved.Leatherneck wrote:Well, guys and girls want to introduce you to Augusts Off-Road rider of the month, Namelesswonder was selected for a few reasons, She is a chick who does not give up and with the help of friends and family has stuck in there, she has heart and tenacity, for a FNG she helps out where she can.
