And here I always thought you had the funniest off road car. HerBet.
Hot, humid air is less dense than cooler, drier air. This can allow a golf ball to fly through the air with greater ease, as there won't be as much resistance on the ball.
couple of photos i found on al gores interweb. the first one is really cool with all of the racers parked next to each other... 4 broncos, a baja or two, a bunch of rails and a couple dirt bikes.
the second image is of rod hall and jim fricker. this bronco is the third one in the above picture but with a different number. rod hall now races hummers i believe...
Of all the paths you take in life, make sure a few of them are dirt.
I thought that's where the link would lead me. My friend Todd Z wrote the story. Somewhere he has a less than flattering shot of me crawling under Big Ole when it was on display at the NHRA Museum during one of the Off Road Expo's.
Very ahead of it's time. It lacks today's wheel travel for a variety of reasons, but it could have today's wheel travel with some mods and you would be hard pressed to tell when it was built.
There was a guy working on building a copy that would have all of the modern tech built into it. I've not heard anything about that project for several years. It's likely dead.
Dig a little further and find the story of the "Trailer Bronco." That one is a classic.

the second bronco in the first pic was driven by larry minor.... he went on to own a nhra drag team, a TF and a flopper. the cars were sponsored by mcdonalds... larry minor was/is the largest potatoe farmer in the u.s. and mcdonalds is the largest buyer of potatoes....

give a man a watch and he'll allways know what time it is. give him two and he can never be sure again.
Things are rarely just crazy enough to work, but they're frequently just crazy enough to fail hilariously.
Nope....Big Oly is still around....the owner's name escapes me right now, but it is someone note worthy. The "Trailer Bronco" that ntsqd mentioned is currently for sale. It's listed on Race Dezert.....$42k. Awesome story, and a real nice piece of racing history.
I think the urban legend about it being stolen actually started because of the original Gone in 60 Seconds movie, where it was stolen and packed up to be shipped overseas.
