Removing the starter

Post by justymusty »

Hi, I just bought a new starter for my 72 411 manual shift. However to remove the old one, I cant figure out how to remove the top bolt. There is no access to the nut. How am I able to remove this top bolt?

thanks

No need to remove the TB. The starter end of the bolt has a "half moon" sewgment so it does not need to be held. Take a flashlight and a 17mm open end wrench and you can reach the nut behind the tB. If yo uelect to remove the TB....you need to aquire a new gasket. The only one available is for the 1.8 TB at the dealer. It works OK with the 1.7 TB...but you MUST silicone the gasket to the TB overnight ...FIRST....then install. Or else it tends to squirm. Ray
