I went about a month ago to dyno my buggy and it made 88 rwhp with 95 ft lbs of torque. Torque was flat from 3500-5500 rpm. Fuel curve was great and the car was fun to drive.
Specs:
1835
pistons?
Recond rods
Stock 69mm crank
Engle 120 cam
weber 44 idf carbs

Last night I was able to finish the turbo installImage(Dyno shot) and today we took it to the dyno and ran again. This was absolutely the same setup, timing carb jetting and all. It posted 128 rwhp and 144 ft lbs of torque at about 6-7 lbs of boost! Fuel curve is about the same until about 5800 then it started to climb above 12.5 to 1. Its now a blast to drive! Heres a dyno Video clip: http://www.fullmooninjune.info/images/MVI_2887.AVI I cant wait to crank it up some. How much hp is a stock 69 mm crank and rods good for assuming rpms are kept about 55-6000 heat is controlled and detonation is suppressed? Can I run 12lbs of boost? How about 14?

Looks great!! I bet it is a blast to drive. Do you know how much it weighs?
I am running 12-14 lbs in a 1200 lb street legal rail. Way to much fun.

c54 I dont know haw much it weighs but I am guessing at about 1100-1200 # plus me 210#. With 12 -14 lbs what kind of internals do you run and how long have you had it going?

Looks good!!

I ran a stock crank 4 dowel and rods at 21 psi in my old wore out 1915 was still running when I tore it down, but had about .030" endplay.

I would work your way up slowly and keep an eye on the AFR when you start adding more boost.

The engine had 10 years on it when I added the turbo. The inside looked great. It has a good crank but the rods were clearenced for the the case and I was told they would brake first. I replaced the clearenced rods with h beams and added fresh bearings and pistons with 2nd groove total seal rings and freshened up the heads.I got it all dialed in this past summer. Maybe a couple of hundres miles on is all.

Nice Manx!

I have a similar setup, Manx with a 1915. Mine is injected, and I have a nice new T3 on it running 18 psi. You can run as much boost as your fuel allows. I've been runnning mine (very) hard for 3 years w/o a single issue. As long as it's tuned right, has good gas, crank it.

6-7 PSI is for kids, put a tank of 110 octane in it and go back to the dyno with 18 psi.

Tmanx, What kind of injection? Whats a t-3 (tranny)? I think I need a different fuel pump for 18 psi. I have the holley blue.Greg

T-3 is the turbo model from Garrett.

I'm running Megasquirt fuel injection, and spark control. I'll never use a carb again. (4) 50 lb injectors provide the fuel, mounted on the intake manifolds.

"T" Duh I finally figured that out (T-3) I should have known that but I was thinking in VW terms T-1,T-2, T-3 etc. Ill see ya back on rotating assembly thread . Ive pirated a bunch of these threads and probably need to apologize. Greg
