the DCOE is on and running but!

when cold runs crisp, but when it warms up it will idle for just a little bit then dies, and it seems to be running rich and pops through the exhaust. It has 34 vents, 135 mains, F11 tubes, 160 airs, 60 idles. this is on the 1679 junkyard turbo motor that we all know and love...

Sounds rich to me too.
Although not the same size carb but I remember getting Jim?s 40 dcoe up and running on his set up.
Started out with 60 idles and it was rich
And not having a selection of dcoe jets. I ended up taking some of my ida idle jets and found a set of 50?s in them. Then I drilled my own air hole in the side of them. Started out with a 100 and eventually stepped up to a 120 air hole and then it was right for our application.
You could check the air hole on the side to see how big it is, but I don?t know how big you can go before it becomes worthless.
A few years back when talking to a fellow racer, he talked about adding small holes in the butterflies to assist in idle and fuel mixture issues associated with the side drafts.
The only other thing I can think of, do you have the choke feature on your carb? A small arm at the base of the carb. If you were to look at the carb on the car and it was pointed left or toward the driver side, the arm should be pointing back. This is normal running setting. If it is pointed forward, it is adding extra fuel. Worked real good for starting Jims car when cold. Then as soon as a little heat was in, we would close it off.

I will try the 50 idles and no it doesn't have the choke, just a plate, but all the innards are still in there? Could this be the problem?

ah ha, it's amazing what a little hole can do, well it seems the idle jets I bought were for a IDA not DCOE, cause theres no air drilling in side! damn how stupid can you get..and when I bought them I said give me a 60F9...go figure!

You know it couldn't spool up any faster

Anyway I haven't drilled the air hole in the idles yet (ordered some proper drills) but this thing whats to go ....believe me
