Eaton M45 - for sale/swap

I've got a couple of Eaton M45 superchargers to sell, if anyone wants to build an engine like Moggy's. One's brand new, the other's done about 5 hours on a dyno. I can't help with manifolds but I've got various pulleys, tensioners and by-pass valves.
These originally cost a small fortune but they're yours for £200 apiece, or I'll swap one for anything interesting - A GT 'box or some 5-stud sprintstars would be nice Image

About $300. It's a pretty hefty bit of kit, though. I think it would be expensive to ship - I'll try and find out.

Where were you 2years ago Andy????

Just a note for people interested. The M45 is only good for engines up to 2.2litres, although it can be used on motors bigger however the max boost attainable will come down i.e. +10psi up to 2.2litres (any more than 10psi isn't worth it with the Eaton) at 2.4litres max boost is about 6-7psi.

Any more than 6 psi an intercooler is required as the charge temperature starts to care dangerously high.

These blowers should not be used in a blow-thru configuration with carbs, see previous post on modifying carbs.

They should only be used in blow-thru config with FI or suck-thru config.

Always use these blowers in conjunction with a by-pass valve.

Any more Q's regarding using one of these on a flat 4 please post here or mail me. Best you don't make the same mistakes I did, cos they're time consuming and bloody expensive.

By the way £200 is a bloody good price, they're about £800+ new.

ANDY: how much for one of the by-pass valves, and what type are they, the ones that fit directly onto the intake or the ones you can fit anywhere?

Moggy, you can HAVE a bypass valve if you take me for a spin in your car Image
It's a Dellorto valve. Not sure what you mean by 'direct to the intake' or 'anywhere', you can fit it anywhere on the manifold but it goes between the inlet and outlet of the SC (if that makes any sense). It's a different principle to a pressure regulating valve ('boost' valve if you read Lax Power).

Cheers Andy, I'll take you up on the by-pass valve. Can you please mail me with your number or something as I'm in the middle on going full EMS and need your advice on some things.

Cheers

Andy, do you still have my 356 rods?
I haven't had time to contact you or sort anything out.

Hi Andy!
Just wondered if you still have the Eatons?
I am interested in both of them!
And if you do.... I've got two 4 1/2 inch five stud sprintstars to swap and some other goodies.
What's a GT box? I'm guessing it's a super beetle gearbox. Got a few.

Please contact me at :[email protected]

The GT gearbox (from the UK's GT bug) was Europe's 1300S gearbox - swing axle, but 3.875 R&P / 0.93 4th gear i.e. the 1303S ratios but with swing axle, not IRS. It is also the same as any swing-axle 1600cc Karmann Ghia.
