Hi Everyone,

I'm very interested in trying my hand at making up a set of headers for my 67 bug, with a T4 engine. I have read that Tig is the way to go, but, would Mig be acceptable???

thanks

Mig will work fine, but be aware that you will likely end up with pieces of wire sticking into the exhaust flow. I would recommend tacking it together with Mig and then having someone else Tig it together. Also the use of back-up gas is really important. This is different then shielding gas at the torch tip. Back-up gas is used inside the pipe as you are welding from the outside. This will give nice smooth welds front and back. Without back-up gas, Tig welds on pipes are large and rough on the inside where this matters the most. Good Luck!!
