Spark plug access

Post by 72beetle »

Hello all,

I have duel carbs on my engine and it is of course hard to get to the forward spark plugs in the engine bay. Is there any one here that has made some kind of access pnl to get to these plugs. if you have, please send pictures also. If you need my email please ask. I would like to know if it a great idea to do this?

I cut 1.5" holes in the fender wells. It gives me easy access to the spar plugs and the intake manifold studs.

I've seen guys use the plugs made for filling the holes drilled in vinyl siding for doing blown insulation. They should be available a Lowes or Home Depot.

Buddy of mine cut an access panel in his fender well and used DZUS fasteners to hold it in place. I think he put a piece of rubber gasket in there, too. Works well.

You could use some of those rubber expansion plugs too, if you drill the hole the right size for one.
