I think he meant a certain x-19/vw powered from the late 80's early 90's...I seem to remember a pic from an old issue of Hot VW's (black and white, in the front where they cover new stuff and records set by vw racers) that showed an x-19 with VW power. I can't remember the guys last name but I'm pretty sure his name was Scott or Scotty something.
I believe I also remember seeing pics of that car wrecked on one front corner from hitting the wall.
I don't remember if it was rebuilt after that, but I think there may have been one other x-19 built around that time that got a fair amount of coverage.
I'm betting it's one or the other...

I found a pew pictures by Gary Justus, on the Cal-look, Nostalgia by el-dub section, under History pictures.
I can not copy all but 1 of 3 photos, its not allowed by that site, but the car was red and said
Baby Huey on the sides, it had 1 pc spindle mount front tires and 1pcs solid (no cut outs) rear aluminum racing wheels.

photo thanks to cal-look, eldub, nostalgia, original from Gary Justus
apparently at a vintage bug-in, California.
the old jitterbug web page had a color pic of a fiat x-19 but that site is now gone. it appead to be an east coast version?

Are these the ones you couldn't copy?
Good find, by the way. Did you remember seeing them there?

The McManus car was wrecked years back. Lo' Cash John called and talked toScott (who still is in to VW's

) so we know this is fact. This car for sale was built and raced by a shop in Pensacola, FL. I talked to the builder about it. I was going to purchase this car from Marvin some time back. Due to a money crunch I couldn't get it. I have always loved the X-19 since I saw the first one in HVW back in the 80's. Just think, 2332, turbo X-19!!!!!!! Yea BABYYYY!!!!!

Those front spindles and struts are super scary...
...let me clarify that; those front spindles are actually rear hub-carriers

That hub carrier was never intended to be stressed/mounted like that

I saw the old jay-cee X-19 run earlier in the year at a show that Ron Lummus was over for, as it approached the line for the first time Ron was talking on the mic, he said "hey I remeber repairing that after it hit the wall once"

not what you want to hear at that moment really

Back in the early 80's a couple of VW powered car ran the IHRA circuit in the south. I am positive I have a picture of the baby huey car. It would of had to be taken at Bristol, Tenn- Rockingham,NC- or Darlington,SC. I think the Fiat was running the "hot rod" 10:90 class. I will have to see if I can locate my photos. I remember seeing my first VW drag car, It was a SS/AMC classed beetle that was ownwd by a guy named Shavers, and driven by a guy named Sam Lee (?spelling). The bug ran in Super Stock class with the V8 cars. We were at a 1/8 mile IHRA points race making some heads up time trials runs when the Bug lined up with my Brothers Super Stocker (a 283 powered 1958 chevy wagon) I was snickering to myself untill after the light went green. I never looked at a VW the same after that. Don Jackson

When I entered the other post (I could remember the guy named Scott) and the word "baby" kept coming to mind, but I couldn't remember the name of the car...that's wierd. I haven't even heard of that car in years. I think I read my Hot Vw's and VW Trends to many times...
