floor panels

Okay, so i'm looking at buying my first project bug, but the panels are in some need of repair; driverside front, p. side back and front. Don't have too much money to make it perfect, but want the next best thing. Where do i go, how much would this normally cost? what would it cost for a new floor panel?

You should check the Hot VW magazine or VW Trends for mail order suppliers. They will have the cheapest prices and quality. Also, many local shops carry floor panels and complete halves. The price varies depending on thickness of materials. The thicker it is, the higher the price. You will need to weld the panel in, but I have seen them pop riveted in as well.

BTW the seat rails on the brazilian floor pan replacements suck. Keep the originals if they are in good shape. drill out the spot welds and re-install on the replacement pans.

Are you going to do it yourself or have some one do it? Its going to be pricey to take it somewhere and have it done. Also that is not to say that they are going to the job correctly.

Its a pain in the @ss, but well worth the results...

I would like to do it myself, but i'll probobly end up taking it to a shop to have the pan welded, or parts cut and replaced. Any gou good shops you guys know of in Orange, irvine area?
