Only you can help
Save Carlsbad Raceway
from being destroyed!

Attn: Californians

My name is Bruce Santourian, I am heading up an eleventh hour effort to keep the bull dozers from demolishing Carlsbad Raceway. We are indeed running out of time. But, with your help, I believe that we can make a difference, and change the present course of events.
This effort must begin now!
We must show our strength in great overwhelming numbers. Keeping the racecourse and motocross facility open will continue to discourage the younger kids from taking part in the street racing scene, providing them with a safe regulated environment to express themselves. The Raceway has great Historic significance. It is over 40 years old, and has hosted many famous big named drag racers, Don Prudhomme, John Force, to name a few, and many great events, including the world class Super Bike Motocross event, was yearly covered by ABC?s Wide World of Sports.
Our only hope to stop this will be to address the Carlsbad City Council.
I intend to make a presentation there, to save this racecourse from destruction It is extremely important for other to express their views at the meeting as well. They allow the first 15 minutes for the public to express their opinions.
We want to see 5,000 people supporting us in downtown Carlsbad.
This is a big number indeed, but we feel that this number is vital in our determination to see change. Tell your friends, and tell your friends to tell their friends. Only then, in these huge numbers, will we have any chance to convince the Carlsbad City Council to stop the scheduled demolition.
Please be here at least 1 hour before the scheduled meeting. We hope to hold an orderly rally just outside the meeting hall well in advance of the 6:00 pm starting time.
Be here @ 5:00 pm. Tuesday August 10th, 2004
Or we will lose this Historic Racecourse

Bruce,

I forwarded your message to the "San Diego Air Cooled Syndicate" (SDACS), the VW Vortex Forum, and to several acquaintences. I hope it helps.

www.savecarlsbadraceway.com I would say from being at the meeting the council is sympathetic, but there is little to nothing they can do without the owners of the property

Sadly enough I couldnt make it (post operation delerium kuz they threw me on vicodin) but Mike was there voicing my every concern! Right Mike?

Anyway, the owners of the property need to be shot. They're only installing the line to make a buck or two, and they happen to be one of the largest conglomerates in the US, they dont need any more money... a good company would see the turnout from last sunday, and realize that this facility is used often, used well, and the people who use it need and enjoy its existance. Thus, tehy would stop construction and figure out how to install the sewer line in a manner that would not destroy the raceway.
