Plug wire seals and cooling

Post by Dive!Dive! »

Posted this in the VW Speed & Drag forum but seems no-one knows (yet).
This seems to me quite relevant to the testing being done by Jake Raby.
Jake - did you run these seals on your tests ?

[With all the interest in cooling systems right now I have another related question. What impact do the plug wire seals have on cooling efficiency ?
I try to run mine in but they are a real pain to refit with the engine in the car. I've seen plenty of hi po motors without seals though.
Thoughts ?

IMHO I wouldn't run without them (VW engineers had them there for a purpose). Cheers!

If you look closely at the pics Kathy posted you will see in the pic of Jake leaning on the engine the plug wires do have the seals in place.

Of course, it's a little easier on a dyno where you can get to the entire engine......
So you think your project is taking forever eh? Well you've got nothing on me.....
