My new '66

Post by subgraphic »

Hi-
I introduced my self with this link in another part of this forum, but thought I would drop a link to a few of my '66's pics.

I have a few ideas on what I?m going to do with it.
The page will be updated monthly.

Great Project - Congrats

Great going scot.
I think you did great for $1200! I too am working on a 66 (plus others).

I've been storing up parts for my 57 and 66 for some time (while my interests were elsewhere) and now I'm back on the 66 project.
I've already rebuilt and lowered the front end. Replaced everything from the brake lines out to the hubs (which I'm going to redrill for the fuchs now that I have them). The car is 99% rust free with really only minor surface rust in the cracks.

I'll post photos as time allows. Good Luck with yours!

Recent Photos and Projected Final Look Options.
This is the most recent photo of my 66 being stripped for paint.

This also is the projected look. I can't decide to go white side or not.

Go with the white side for sure, and add some billet aluminum running boards. And if you can find them, try and get some billet door hinges as well. Saw it on a Teal/White bug a few years back. It looks clean and high tech.

Solid blue looks good to me, probably less trouble too.

I agree a solid dark blue bug. What are you going to do for power?

Thanks for all the replies. I'm leaning toward solid blue myself for the old skool look with the fuchs... I think it will offset the chrome and stainless steel trim etc.

As for motivation.. probably a heathly 2 liter after the body is slick and together. I have a chromed over 1600 with a progressive ready (you can see the doghouse in the rear shot above on my first post) for install right now (done is several years ago) but want to change the final engine look up some with the 2 liter. Clean and simple etc.
