oval dash?

hi I got a 57 bug and there is two dime size holes in the dash next to the speedometer no the left side.Should there be something there or should I weld them shout.also I would like to know if theres a site that shows how make your own hidden hinges. thanks

Mine 57 has a Denalle(spelling) fuel guage ,2 small holes....

http://www.runtrod.com. I have a few articles on hidden hinge installaion under the How To article section.
Since it won't be a "correct" restoration, do what you want with the holes. If you can or don't want to do anything to the hole, weld them shut. Well that's my opinion at least.
