Hi everyone,
I´m thinking of buying a 914 and putting my T-4 in it.it´s 2459cc with 48IDFs and a 260mm Porsche cooling fan from a 911.But will it fit?Right now the engine is in my bug.
thanks, Mark

If a 3.8L flat 6 with that same cooling setup fits... I don't see an issue. (it IS the 911 fan, right?)
I have threatened to do the same just to be able to "do" a dry sump. (the Porsche fan, not the 3.8 l part...)

You'll have to mess with the engine tin, most likely. You definitely want to keep the warm air underneath the car from getting sucked up into the engine bay...

If it is the 12-blade fan/alternator/ring assembly, then it is too deep and will not fit the standard 911 upright conversion kit. All others are not a problem.

The problem you will have is filling and checking the oil in a 914.
This goes with all kits except the FAT shroud which will fit fine in a 914.
The 914 has the lower oil fill hole filled and the factory mount bar will not allow you do open that area up and make an oil filler from it. almost all 911 kits that require machining render the stock 914 dipstick useless and that makes another challenge.
\If you can take a pic of the engine and send it top me I can tell realy quick what you will have to do to make it work.

Thanks everyone! It is the 12 blade model.I´ll see if I can send a pic I´m not exactly a computer wizard. The fan is a kit from Custom Speed Parts in Germany.

Oh, the kit you have uses the 12-blade fan but instead uses a modified alterantor in lieu of the Porsche alternator (which is substantially much larger). The kit should fit, but like Jake said, oil filling might be a problem and you'll have to get creative.
Good luck!

Right,it uses a 75 amp alternator out of a VW Golf/Rabbit.What exactly do you mean by "creative"?I´m sure I can solve the dipstick problem, but what else can I expect?
Oh,yeah and the fan shroud isn´t as deep behind the fan as the type that Jake uses(pics from website).Very impressive engines you have there Jake! Here´s what I got:
105x71
48x38 valves in extensively ported/polish T-4 heads with relocated plugs additional cooling fin welded on
BAS match port/polish manifolds
48IDFs
260mm porsche cooling fan
4.5kg 228mm flywheel
10.4:1 c/r
215 HP @ 6250rpm 220 newtonmeters torque
this is the engine I want to put in a 914(though still undecided)
