\'78 Kelmark/Mazda TurboII Rotary

Post by wdwflash »

I just found this forum. I've got a '78 Kelmark GT that I've installed a '87 Mazda TurboII, intercooled, turbocharged, fuel injected rotary engine in. To my knowledge I'm the first to but this engine(turboII) into a kelmark. It took me three years and lot of time on a milling machine and lathe to make some of the custom mounts(oil cooler, intercooler, block off plates, etc.)
The Kelmark is on a '74 vw pan and originally had a 6cyl Corvair spyder engine in it.
The engine is controlled by a Haltech E6K engine management system. I've installed 944 porsche stub axles, bus CVs,swing away axles, stuff transaxle(rino case with 4 spyder gears, super diff, welded/close ratio 3rd & 4th gears),prowlers "A" arm tube beefup kit, 4 wheel disc brakes with chev bolt pattern(no adapters),adjustable front end,CNC pedals, Kennedy Engineered engine adapter, 12lb matched balanced flywheel, high torque starter, 2800lb KEP clutch, bosch fuel pump, triangle fuel cell,3in. stainless steel exhaust with a racing beat premuffler and a supertrapp muffler.
I've only had it to half throttle, but its very fast and scary! Its got around 250hp at the rear wheels.
If anyone with a Kelmark is interested in this conversion and has any questions please email me if I can help in any way.

Can't get to the site you listed. Way too slow, and the pictures appear to be burried.

I'll put up your pictures. I do this all the time for things I think we GOTTA see!

Serious offer. Contact me offline (address above).

I believe they are American Racing wheels "Jet" wheels. A tire store broke one of them for you? I want to change my tires, but I fear I'll get some idiot at the store who will do the same thing.
How did they do it? You know that there are companies that rebuild rims. Look in hotrod mags. Try the kelmark web site, there might be someone who has extras. I may try to pick up one in the future just to have an extra.
If you want an exact name for them let me know and I'll look in my kelmark paperwork(I've bought all of the paperwork I have found on the internet.)

these were wheels that came with my kitcar orignaly.the tire shop was putting a new set of tires on them.the guy put to much air in the to set it.i have talkedto several people who were in the tire buisness and they said it would take in excess of 100 pounds to do that much damage.those wheels were made by a outfit in ohio,do,nt there names.
