Compufire is good too (not "better", but about the same performance IMHO) http://www.compufire.com/vw.html#21100

Ive used the petronics one three or so of the ones ive built and they work fine.

Had both. No difference in performance but the Pertronix died and was replaced with a Compufire. It's been fine for 2 years. Lots of discussion about these two on other forums. General consensus seems to be equal performance but longer life for the Compufire.

Most important part of the instructions is to CHECK The Impedence of your coil....wrong impedence= instanly fried pertronics.
