I've printed out a color copy of the
'73 914 D-jet equiped 1.7 engine found
at Pelican parts.. and in 914 manuals,
and need a quick understanding..
*Is "solid red" an indicator of a
constant hot wire from Batt. to a
connection?
If so.. is there two allways hot wires
on the D-jet relay board, that do NOT
come from a fused circut? Does the 25amp
fuse on the relay board protect the Brain?
Q?#2-
What is the relationship between the two
wireing diograms marked #1 and #2 at the
pelican parts sight?
I'm a novice at reading the color codes<G>
I'm currently installing the 914 engine
with D-jet into a '67 Porsche 912
Reading the D-jet wireing diagram.. Q?

Reading the D-jet wireing diagram.. Q?
Yup, those 2 wires are hot, and nope, there is no fuse protecting the ECU. Usually, red is always hot, yellow is hot with ignition on.
If I interpret your second question correctly, the two diagrams at the PP site are simply the two diagrams Porsche provided for the 914 (that vary by year to year). They simply couldn't fit everything onto one diagram and maintain readability.

OK, Zero protection of the ECU is wierd,
Like.. don't jump the car with your Arc
welder<G> But.. so what
Solid Red is HOT...
Red with color is hot fused power?
(like from accross the fuses for power to
lights and electric motors?)
And, yellow/red stripe lit off the starter<G>
*found that out<G>
To me, the Coil is fed from a "solid Black"
wire into the relay panel and on to the
coil in a black/red wire... right?
That would power-up the ignition, from the keyed switch and also shut down the engine right??
Thanks-
