yes you heard right. I just bought a fully programmable ignition for the grand total of 44 dollars shipped to my door. It is a DIY kit that a place called Jacar sells. It hooks right up to points, reluctor, or even hall-effects sensors and you can programm when the advance kicks in and what rpm it fully advances at. You can also select different ramp rates of advance and you can store 2 different maps one for say 91 octane and the other for at the track with race fuel. Seems to be a decent set up for the price, we will see when I get it and try it out. You can also check it out on www.autospeed.com under free tech articles I think.

I checked through that section of the site and couldn't find it. Can you be more specific? Perhaps a URL?

Yes go on the autospeed page and there are three little pull down menus up top. Go to the one on the right and select DIY modules. Then a DIY module page comes up, on the top of that page you will see the word JACAR, click it and the ignition will be on that page.

Search around I have seen that kit for cheaper. It is a simple microprocessor kit based of a PIC processor.

Dude how much cheaper can it get. 35 bucks is a steal for a programmable system.

Here is some more info on it.

It can get cheaper as the site above has the schematic. (BTW I am an EE in trade and we did a similar project in school on a different micro)

Chuck, are you using this programmable ignition on your turbo set-up?
