How well does it work? It flyes!!! I usually run 10 psi street and on the track I run 14 psi with race fuel. The turbo starts to build boost at 2800 rpm and rockets to 6200 with no problems. The CIS is smooth and flawless, never misses a beat.
I am currently assembling my 2.0L long block. It should run even better with the 2.0L

Yeah, you're right. It's a good thing that I don't listen to "Everyone", or else it would not have worked ;^)
Hey, are you planning another East Coast visit for a Track Event or ECR 2002? If so, you can definitely have a ride this year. 2.0L and 14-psi minimum, Things that make you go Hmmmmmmmm.......

Ed,
Thanks for sharing the photos. Very nicely done, both fit and finish. I like the red tin, but since I have a red car I don't think it would work so well for me.
I like your oil cooler setup too. I've been considering one, but don't know if I want to go to the front trunk or place it beside the tranny. How much additional oil do the lines and cooler require? Do you drain these with oil changes? What did you do as far as exhaust air and shrouding for the cooler? Do you still carry a spare and if so how is that placed?
Thanks,
Mike

EV- Red? Come on man, that's HEMI Orange!! ;^)
EV- I only needed to add the cooler after I added the turbo. I ran it up front to get better cooling through higher airflow and to add oil capacity. The cooler and lines add 3 qts to the system, I run a total of 6.5qts. I am cuurently switching to AN-10 steel braided lines, I am going to add a drain valve at the cooler to make draining easier. Right now I just get the oil good and warm prior to draining it. With the front of the car elevated slightly, most all of the oil drains. I have built a nice shroud for the cooler to duct the air, I need to add pics. There is a series of 2 1/4-in holes behind the cooler in the trunk floor for exit air. The system work very well, my oil temps stay at 180-185f almost all the time. Even high RPM track events can't get the oil hotter than 210F. I use a Porsche space saver inflatable spare tire which is located in the rear trunk. I will be relocating it to the front trunk along with the battery.

Thanks for the info on the cooler. Do the cooler and oil lines result in a noticeable drop in oil pressure? Did you go with a higher volume/pressure pump (Melling?) or high presure oil relief pistons?
Thanks,
Mike </B><HR></BLOCKQUOTE>
The same pressure as before the oil cooler was installed. I use a Melling 30mm unit with stock oil relief pistons and springs. I have 20psi at warm idle, 1000rpm and 60-psi from 3000rpm up. Cold engine pegs the gauge at 80psi.

Ed, I have been invited to escort Mrs. Murphy at the next TracQuest event at the Glen. I'm pretty sure I'll be taking Bill up on that offer...
A chance to see what the "impossible" car can do would be very entertaining, very entertaining indeed!!!

Evill Ed, Thanks!!
One word "Magnifico to the infinite power"! I am impressed!
Please answer the following questions:
1. What "non-stock" parts or specs does you engine have?
2. What vehicle donated the "CIS" and turbo?
3. Is the CIS systems stock or is it modified? If it is modified, what did you do?
4. Any pics of your header or other pics?
5.. Looks like you used the stock D-injection system, what else did you have to modify?
The Hemi-orange always looks great no matter what color you body is

1- The cam is an agressive carb grind, long duration and lumpy idle, but it worked well with the turbo. The compression was raised to 8.5:1. All internals balanced.
2- the turbo was from a 924 Porsche, a KKK K26 unit. The new Turbo is a 944 unit, also a KKK K26 unit. The CIS is from an early Rabbit. I got the CIS set up from Gary Miller at
www.millerfi.com
3- the CIS is a stock set up.
4- Yup, I gotta find them and post them. I use the SS heatexchangers to a Bursch 4 into 1 unit, from there to the turbo. There is alot of pipe on this set up, but I still have heat, and once it is good and hot, like at the track, the exhaust velocity stays high and boost comes on real quick. The cooler running around town makes the turbo a little slower spinning up. I am planning to go to a 4 into 1 header, Kerry Hunter style, for my future exhaust.
5- Miller welded CIS cups to the stock D-jet manifolds, I think that was it. The rest is basically a stock set up.
Regards,
Ed

Hey Ed,
How much time do you have on the setup...running/driving. Alot of miles? Have you dyno'd it yet?
