folks,
i have a modified bus motor in my '79 westy with l-jet and i would like to increase the throttle butterfly size slightly. i thought an injected 914 part might work, and i wonder if anyone knows the size of the stock 914 butterfly, for l-jet injection. this part should bolt up to the bus plenum.

45mm for a 2.0L 914 throttle body. Some of the later bus/vanagon motors have the same size.

I will be exchanging the throttle body on my stock 2.0 914 for one that has been ported out to 48mm or so. I suggest you do the same but let a pro do it as there is a trick or so involved in this mod. I am paying $250 plus my throttle body in exchange

I paid $75 to have a 2.0L Throttle body bored out to 50mm. Geez, $250 for what!!!
I noticed only a small amount of difference too. I have yet to take it to a dyno. It is supposed to add about 2-3hp.

A small shop in Seattle. There is a ad in"Excellence" for big bore throttle bodies too for $125. I talked to that guy but I just happened to mention it to the Seattle shop and they did it for me. Bushed the pivot shaft too, very smooth operation without any slop or vacuum leaks.

Try Ed Mazula at

These other guys in Seattle are not really set up for this kind of work, very slowww. My point is to look around $250 is waay too much $$$

I called Ed from Bigborethrottlebodies.com, he gets $200.00 to do a 914 throttle body. Too rich for my blood. Though he is a professional and knows what he is doing. I am having mine done by a friend who is a machinist. I'm looking to get a slight increase in performance as well since I have increased the displacement and the valve size on my 2.0 engine.
