Is it possible to do this in a bug? I have an extra bug laying around in somebody's back yard, And I think it would produce mad torque if done right

Go for it... Electro engines are AWESOME!!!!

Most of the companys are in california and sell some unreal set-ups. Here's the URL for one place http://wilde-evolutions.com/ they have alot of links with many VW's used as base vehicles.

keep us posted,

putting an electric motor inna Beetle is easy just takes an adaptor plate and $$$ for the motor. Putting ENOUGH batteries in the car to make the whole effort worthwhile isn't so easy. Not saying it's not possible, just not practical.. but yer certainly welcome to try ;-)
One more thing tho.. there are many 'businesses' more than willing to take your $$ on this adventure after having seen a few 'conversions' DO take the time to see and drive ANY units before buying, not all are even close to what they claim.

They have an electric drag racing class. One of the faster cars (Z car I think?) actaully beat an AC Cobra kit in the 1/4 mile.

Also you can get a big tax break too or a grant and often the gov ends up paying for the comversion, something you may want to look into. Also some states has lawas where zero emmision cars can use the HOV (High Occupancy Lanes) on highways 27/7

I am looking into trying to build a diesel electric (instead of this retared hybrid crap) into a car in the future. Need $$$ first.

Isn't this "hybrid crap" the same thing as a deisel electric? Just using a gasoline engine,...

What I find amusing is the way Honda & the media in general were treating the hybrid, like it's some wild new technology. Yup, real new, been used in Diesel locomotives since the 50's, real new. :P

Where are we going, & why am I in a handbasket?...

These hybrids are real silly, they use a direct drive and an electric motor. So you still have the same mechanical loss as before.

Deisel electric (or gas electric) has been around much longer then the 50's. This type of technology was used in the 1800's.
