My 66 bug started up just fine this afternoon after sitting for a few weeks but when I pulled out of the driveway I noticed a flat spot in acceleration that was not there before.
It feels like the car is about to die from lack of gas, then sudnenly runs fine until I shift again.
When I looked at the engine I noticed that a thick reddish oil type fluid was leaking from the seal between the electric choke and the carb. What could it be? Would this explaine my carb flat spot? There is also an unusually loud sucking sound coming from the carb...
On top of that I am getting a high pitched whine from the fan houseing at 2500 rpm's or above. Could my fan be cracked and getting ready to break?
The engine is a 1600 sp with a brazilian 30 pict 3 carb and a 009 distributor.
Thanks in advance for any insights you can provide!

Yep, see if you can get a mirror and try to look at the fan, look for fur and fluf.
When does a squirril sound like a cat?
