can anybody help me? i recently bought a dual weber 44 idf from a friend. i was just wondering if any one can help me with the jetting. my engine is a 1600 engine. it has been ported and polished and has s/s valves 40mm X 35.5mm. some say that the carb would just flood the engine. can i use this carb?

Sorry dude but 44 idf's are to big for a pratically stock 1600. I think the only way you could ues them would be to change to like 30mm vents and rejett all the jets, it would be alot of trial and error and headaches

Talk to John C. at aircooled.net about "jetting down" your carbs... I personally run dual 44idf's on my 1600 with no problems (that is AFTER I jetted them properly). Its not that difficult, and they work fine. The nice part about having the 44's is that you have "future expandability": if you want to build a larger engine one day, but down want to spend another $$$$$ on bigger carbs, you can rejet the 44's (larger).

Im running 32 venturis, 55 idles, 120 mains, stock 44idf emulsion tubes & air.

From what I've heard it varies LARGELY from engine to engine (plus you have to take in to consideration the altitude you live, etc.) Also keep in mind my engine isnt COMPLETELY stock (stage 3 heads, 1.4 ratio rockers, baja header/exhaust, etc).

I think originally I bought like 4 sizes of idles, and 4 sizes of mains. After about a MONTH of driving with different sets (and the help of my mixture guage) I *think* I finally have it. Plugs look good, mileage leaves a little to be desisired (depending on how good its running I HAVE gotten 18'ish city 23-24 freeway).
