Say you had $1000 to spend on the best heads you can afford. You want some big flow numbers.

These are a few choices, feel free to add more suggestions.

044 44x37.5s Ported

Comp Elims 48x38 nonported

Street Elims 42x37(can you get 44 intakes?) nonported

Super Flows 44x37 nonported

No worries of running hot. Which set would yield the biggest flow numbers in these forms? Im guessing the Comp Elims, the ports are huge, and massive valves. Im guessing that they would always be ported after the fact, correct? Also, could someone tell me the differnce between superflo's and superflo 2s?
Thanks

Yeah for flow, the Comp Elims will do that but thats not the only part to the puzzle. The Super Flow 2's have smaller intake ports. They realized that bigger is not always better. Velocity has a lot to do with it. Muffler Mike runs Super Flow 2's. They are very good heads.

agree with marty....on comp eliminators for flow.......been playing around after porting and ( no welding ) getting flow numbers from 211-236 @ industry standards/results at track on approx 12 different sets tend to run about 50 degrees hotter than type1/super flows/ autocraft// static comp ranged 8to1 thru 14 to 1//w 48x40/48x38///.three of the sets had the cb(revmaster)valves and k-motion option......getting proper spring height presented a bit of a mess ,but can be over come, with additional money/time,you can hold off and for down the line step up to just about any where. still think best bang for buck!!!!! jet it a little richer(could not swear to it out of box flow was 168) ps....in your area mark t at vw paradise was the flow # guy........good luck//ss

I'd save up a couple more bucks and spend it at Heads Up performance. I waited just three weeks for a set of comp elim 46x40 fully ported heads and intakes. With 12 to 1 cr it was good for 228hp on Crawfords dyno and a 12.02 112mph in my street car.

You might call Pat Downs at CB performance and see what he could do for you.
Pat did mention the 48x40 heads can lose port velocity very quickly if too much material is removed.

Hey SS "Dennis" nice to see you on the boards!

Take a look at Performance Tech's webpage....I'm going for a set of his all-out ported/polished SHO heads when I get to head selection.

A word of advice for everyone. Call first and check on lead times. I am hearing of many people that have been sending their heads in to get done and 6 months later still no heads. If you are buying new ones buy them if the ones you want are in stock or can be in just a few days. Also the most important thing - YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR.

I'm am/was running the Comp Eliminator's 40x48 on my 2275 on juice. The heads are ported for a race setup. The setup you run will change with how you are running it. I wouldn't have gotten the big valves and ported so much if not running NOS. In my case the combo worked rather well. Yeilding a best of 6.71@104mph in the 1/8th mile.

Derrick,

I've been waiting for my pre-paid SHO's for let's see..

16 months now. (NO KIDDING).

AJ is now doing our heads, minor coordination problems, but these are all resolved, and I don't forsee heads taking longer than 3 weeks from now on. The street series 6s, 7s, and race heads will be in stock on the shelf ready to ship in 2 weeks, so NO WAIT will be needed if you buy the intakes from us too (match ported), there will be a wait if you choose to match to your intakes because of shipping times.

This is why the first thing I spent my money on were my CE heads. They 'should' be here around early Feb (woo hoo!!), but I ordered them a while ago. I've been doing bodywork and other misc. things in the meantime.

I would hate to order heads last, then wait until the next season before I could get them to race!

</B><HR></BLOCKQUOTE>Mike is correct about the velocity loss on the comp. elims.I have two sets and have experienced just that.Don't port it too far if your combo doesn't warrant it.
