ive got a 1600cc in my bus, engine code AD014725, with a kadron muffler brand new, new NOS beetle pipes, and it doesnt whistle!!! i had an old kadron muffler with old pipes, never whistle also... so whats the trick ? i gave my old kadron muffler to a friend, he put it in his beetle with HIS pipe and it whistle, you know the gentle beetle sound...
Anybody can help me ?

I don't know for sure, but I've always been told that they whistle when the valves are adjusted properly.I adjust mine on .008" all the way across, as I'm a firm believer in "a little loose is better than too tight" and mine whistles.

this is what I've been told several times:

German exhaust tweets, brazilian exhaust claps. I've had both and it did coincidentally happen to be just that way.

i just adjust my valve to 008 and no whistle

I bet ill check for a german muffler now!
