Regulator stuff

Post by SpyderMike »

Regulator is not regulating...I just put the old engine back in and am changing from Alternator to Generator/regulator. Is the voltage coming back from teh idiot light (regulator point 61) required to get the bugger to charge?

No, the idiot light is just that.

Food for thought...

My sons "new" 75A alternator stopped working and threw a belt the other night, and didn't bother to light the idiot light either.

(glad to have oil temp guage)

The regulator had died... they may not light the warning light if they die.
Brand new POS.

The bad regulator "grew" a connector, and a cable appeared, and now hooks up to a original Bosch relay style reg unit from my 73 bus, which I have found to work _far_ better over the years than any of the electronic ones. Took about 1 hour in all.
