i bought a type3 trany and swing axel lowering kit that was in a 64 bus...i took all my stock stuff off and went to bolt the new stuff on...the nosecone on the type3 trany is 1/2 inch shorter than the stock one i took out...
can i just switch nosecones???
what else might i need to do??

call busboys or wolfgang and order the late tranny(syncro) into an early bus(splitcase) front adapter. you cant put a splitcase nosecone one a syncro tranny.

'60 and later are tunnel, not split-case. You should only need the Type II nose cone and hockey-stick to adapt into a '64 bus. BTW, don't forget to flip the ring gear, or you'll have a "4-speeds in reverse" tranny.

yo pablo, did you even read his post? he is putting it in a ...58... which is a splitcase bus just as you stated. you should read the post well so that you dont give the guy bad info. and a type 3 tranny never had reduction boxes(which im sure you know but just did not pay enough attention to his post) like i said before smoothbus, you will need the adapter.

Yup, call Bus Boys and get the '58 nosecone. then you should be all set. The later split nosecones are different than the early crashbox ones.
