stainless brake hoses for a Bay
Does anyone out there know anyone selling sets of stainless braided brake hoses for a bay window bus with disk brakes? It's in the shop now getting a Jake Raby powerstroke special installed. I thought if it is going to go faster I ought to be thinking about stoping quicker.

SS lines do not help in slowing the bus any quicker.
The SS lines mearly have less flex and will not expand when under pressure giving a better brake "feel".
I would not worry about SS lines. Just make sure you keep fresh fluid in her and that the brakes are in top notch condition.

Oh yah, the best "upgrade" you can do is buy good tires and have good shocks. These can improve your braking dramatically in most cases.

Keep the rear drums adjusted too, otherwise, you're only breaking on the front wheels. You can tell when you need to do so when the parking brake starts coming out all the way. And it always seems to be "time to adjust the drums AGAIN? Geeze, I just did that!"
I second the tires and shocks upgrade. Remarkable how well that improved Gretchin's handling. Went with KYB GR2 on front, Gas-a-just on rear, in hopes of getting good combo of handling and ride. (Gas a just are awfully stiff -- and the rear end is way heavier -- and the front seems to bear the brunt of the ride control). Worked out well.
Also, ensure you are running proper rated tires, need to be truck tires, Michelin LTX work great, and have a nice tread for ride, handling and good dig in all weather.

Thanks, Kermit (my bus) has new 215/.65-15 tires mounted on custom 7x15" wheels, KYB's, Sway-a-way sway-bars front and rear and new rear shoes and cyln. I was looking for some tighter feel. Found them @aircooled.net.
