I'm going to be lazy this time. I want lots of great power and love boost, but I don't need to build from scratch this time. Because I can, I ordered the CB Performance 2387cc Max HP kit. But since I am not going Natural Asperation, I also ordered the EFI turbo kit. There is little programming to do. Added dash computer. What bums me out os CBP does not build the engines anymore. I need to find someone to do it. There is a guy in Reno I will likely take it to. CBP is missing parts, so I don't know when I will get the kit, but 12 weeks was the notice for both the EFI build and the engine build. What I don't know is whether any modification to the body is required.
I have a list of all new parts to buy for a ground-up rebuild—a total rebuild. There is a shop (the same as the engine builder) that will rebuild everything on the car for around 10k, not including paint or upholstery.
I am likely asking this in the wrong forum, but I would appreciate any forward-thinking on parts or systems before ordering the non-engine items.
I have a built t1 IRS trans. I don't think it can get any stronger without going 930 CV. Can I do that? I don't remember... A bus trans would be better, but I do not want to modify the car. Ideas?
The New Engine kit has started.

A 091 can be fit on 5 degree mounts with very little car side mods, area above the nose cone needs a few smacks with a hammer and the frame horns need clearance work under the cvs, the inner seam needs ground for clearance and rewelded, but the horns end up stronger. The shift rod is in the right place. The engine sits a little higher.
I basically built my own as the one I bought for purpose fit like as*....
The only stronger VW trans is an 090 automatic out of a Vanagon, which can take a blown v8 with few mods.
They are DIY friendly with no special tools, just have to assemble in right order and do careful measurements a few places.
It needs no frame horns, but engine end mounts required (late bus had them too but the 86+ Vanagon ones have the right tq converter)

Addendum to Newtons first law:
zero vehicles on jackstands, square gets a fresh 090 and 1911, cabby gets a blower.
EZ3.6 Vanagon after that.(mounted, needs everything finished) then Creamsicle.

Hey,
Piledriver, I have a 002 3 rib in a race car, 091. Now, if it is not that hard, I can do it. Is there a kit or a thread showing how to do it? Remind me, do I need a different flywheel, or was it just an output shaft change?

I want to say a T1 needs a shorter input shaft, I was putting a T4 with a 228mm clutch into the car, to it just worked.
As to the 5 degree mount setup, I'd have to suggest the off road forum, as it is far more common to use in a Baja or such.
Flywheel/starter should just work, suggest modifying a 9 tooth starter for a mk4 TDi automatic, 2HP gear reduction unit.
Unsure if I have any old pics of the install, it was pushing 20 years ago.
