Another Newbie with an age old problem of the spare tire fitment
Ok. I'm a newbie owner of a 1967 Karmann Ghia (all original). I'm a newbie to the VW scene. I've read a lot of forums on what size tire that would fit in the spare tire well. I thought I read all the right things. I bought 5 new tires (which the KG needed). I went with the Diamond backs 155/80r15. Thinking that the spare would fit in the well. It's not even close. I took out some air and still It's not close. Where did I go wrong.

What wheels? 4.5” steels or something else like 5.5” steel / alloy

That’s probably it.
A 155 should fit, but on a stock 4.5” rim.

Thanks. I stayed with the wheels that came with the car when I bought it.

Thanks Bruce. The 4.5" rim was the trick xfor it to fit.
