TB's for VW412 or stock carb type4 intake manifold?

Post by Wally »

I have a stock VW412 1800 engine and those use this stock intake manifold:

The studs have stock Solex 34PICT spacing: 68mm.
Bore is 40mm

What Throttle bodies would fit these the best? Ideally also with a 40mm throat size.
Any ideas what is out there in this size?

Tnx
Walter

Oh yes please! 38mm would be great, but 36mm probably enough as well.

Your 24-1 trigger set-up was behind the original shroud as well?

Its nice (and better) to have 4 injectors, but would just two TB's with 1 injector on each side in the TB be tuneable?
Just seems cool to only have to replace the carbs with two TB's with build-in injector on each side. Seems to me there would be a large bus market for that, especially if the original air filter system could be used.

Tnx for your thoughts guys!

Quite happy to sell you those throttles for a nominal ( virtually free) amount. I'd throw in the manifolds for free but they are prototype complete with JB weld . Also have quite a few of those cast iron manifolds and a box full of the bare billet throttles

yes the 24 trigger wheel is behind the fan although I wouldn't do that on a T4 unless it's an upright cooling conversion as it's just way too much of a job
to fit and or replace . Use a distributor based trigger instead

The experimenting was done by VW in 1990 ish  It works . Crank trigger was mainly a cost saving by the engine manufacter
