002 differential wear
i have some 002 trans that have an excessive play between the planetary gear and differential housing. the wear causes the cvjoint flange to move excessively and developing a leak on the seal on that side. what's the best solution for this? maybe machining the housing flange bigger, then welding and machining the planetary gear?

Re: 002 differential wear
The best solution is to replace the worn part. You should be able to find one advertised on the Samba.
If you want to try to repair yours, I recommend you bore out the hole in the diff to clean it up. Then press in a bronze sleeve, like a wrist pin bushing. Then bore that bushing to a close fit for the side gear. This assumes the side gear is undamaged.

I have some of them around that are worn, good used are getting scarce in my stash. However both parts are worn.
