My new gas cap leaks if tank half full or more.
Tried it before clicks and after but always leaks and perhaps contributes to smell inside.
Any suggestions?

There should be two large O-rings at the top of the threaded portion of the cap. The O-rings seal the cap to the filler opening. The cap you bought probably has no fuel resistant O-rings on it. The O-rings should be made of Viton synthetic rubber. Diameter of the material should be around 3mm thick. There are two together. When you tighten the cap make sure there is a bit of silicone (clear) grease on the rings. I transferred the rings to my locking cap. That's how I know there are two rings. It should probably be one but if it is one I cannot be sure of the size. Will lookup part number and post it here.
Is the tank vented and what year is the cart? I am assuming it is for the American market? Also look under the right rear fender and see if there is a charcoal canister there. That is where the tank fumes are supposed to go.
If you don't have the Bentley Manual and you are going to keep the car, you need to purchase one. You cannot function without one.
