Couple more things i thought of today..

Malpassi regulator picks up boost reference off of the up-pipe.
(Check me out dropping the lingo 8) )
T-fitting, at the bottom of it, is that a take-off for a boost gauge, or..?

Fuel in from the pump/tank on the right (pic got cut off  )
Then return back to the tank down out the middle..
Or is it the other way around?

Hats have these weird square hatches on top.
Any idea what these are?

Motor had gone through a few iterations over the years.
Found pics and receipts from different full rebuilds at different shops.
A1 merge header had been modified by welding a T4 flange onto the face of the existing T3 flange.
Makes it easy if i decide to go with a T3 for whatever reason...
I'm guessing some serious apron surgery will be in order unless i go smaller.
CB says only a T3/T4 works with their header, and even then maybe not.

Additionally, It seems they extended the wastegate outward away from the header,
But maybe not enough, or in the right spot.
A hole is punched in the pipe (it's definitely not a rust hole) and it looks like it's from the turbo bouncing around and the pipe hitting the wastegate.
Seems that the turbo was supported only by exhaust tubing..?

It sits close..

Thinking I'll:
1. Chop the wastegate mount pipe to get it angled away from the header.
2. Mount the turbo better.

Because this is a universal case i have those bosses for the Type3/Bus rear mount available.
Think it's a good idea to fabricate a big ol' hanger bracket to support the turbo?
Seems way too heavy to just hang off the header piping..

Lastly,
What's the story with those brass 90s on my wastegate?
The one on the right side runs over and picks up the compressor housing, so boost reference.
but it has a nipple sticking up with a rubber boot capping it off.
Any idea what they were doing there?

What's that other fitting in the top/middle of the wastegate supposed to go to?

I have no idea! :P

Anybody got any input on this thing I'd be tickled to hear what you have to say about it.
See anything wrong?
Other than the new owner of course!

For that hole in your header just order a 45 or 90 degree bend the same diameter and cut a section out that matches the bend where the hole is. Use one of those exhaust pipe cutters to either cut through or mark the tube and then finish the cut with a cutting wheel or hack saw if you are old school.
Cut to fit and weld in the new piece. If you want to get fancy you can grind the weld all down and polish it to look like new and one piece.

I have pics in my build where I piece in some new sections in my header. I put in new flanges and got rid of the intake heat risers at the same time on my cheap ass header.

Here is a link with pic where I did it on my build page........

https://www.shoptalkforums.com/viewtopi ... r#p1269511

As for the turbo.....I work with turbos a lot smaller than that.......for reference my cold side is 43.3mm and 54mm and the hot side is smaller than that.

For a 2276 you will probably be fine...I would run it.

The wastegate looks to have an extra connection for when you have an 4 port Electronic Boost controller and it puts pressure on the top side to help it keep closed until the ECU says open.....It's sort of for boost control.......way above your pay grade for now so leave it open to atmosphere....... 8)

Oops....I almost forgot.....those square caps on the tophats are probably for changing out jets easier. Pull the cap and remove your jet stacks.
The PO probably got sick of pulling all the plumbing off the carbs to get at them......either that or the mechanic in charge of tuning it did. You could take that as a.....good sign........or a bad sign.
I'm favoring a bad sign due to the exhaust valve parting from the valve stem........ :D

SSsssoooo... :)
Maybe,
Those barbed fittings on the wastegate would work with one of these gizmos?

You can build a boost controller out of a 1/4 inch brass tee and a few misc parts for 20.00 bucks. You need to find out what spring is in your wastegate first. It also depends on your target boost level.
My turbo wastegate is a 6.0 lbs spring and the good thing about that is it’s a low enough failsafe that my engine will go anywhere at that boost level and not need water injection to boost.

Don't wish for that. You'll get busy with additional stuff, and this will slow down. From experience!

Haven't forgotten about the project..

Scored this at the swaps today. 8)

Vacuum advance Unilites don't grow on trees anymore y'know.
Should be a perfect vintage addition to my period-correct carbureted blow-thru setup.
Hopefully this can will help me pull timing as boost rises.
Also have an NOS ProMaster 58880 coil to go with it, which was their biggest/baddest BITD.

All i can seem to do is fiend out wondering if this case is shuffle-pinned or the crank is truly a wedge-mate,
When I'm supposed to be doing Kubernetes and Docker..
Work sucks.
