I currently have the Empi rear disc kit and I would like to add the e-brake cable to the rear calipers.
Does anyone know what "off the shelf" (available from local auto parts stores) caliper is the same but with e-brake? The Empi replacements are priced crazy. I thought there was a Jetta or some caliper that was the same with e-brake.

Probably others as well, but I knew they had them. Most of the brake kits on the market are the same, so anyone who sells the components individually will likely be compatible

Thanks, I was looking more for what caliper from local auto parts may be compatible. Something I may be able to get for a spare or quick replacement if needed. I thought there was a Jetta or something caliper that was the same but I haven't been able to find the info.

This link might be of some help. I think you're right that the calipers are some off the shelf item from another vehicle. It might take some investigative work to figure out which one. Ideally you could find some engineering specs on candidate calipers, otherwise it can be a matter of getting your hands on new or used calipers to test fit and see what will work.

One thing to keep in mind...Jetta calipers have 38mm pistons(some may have had 36mm), while the typical disc brake conversion kits come with 33mm pistons, which is a 25% increase in piston area. May not be an issue at all, but could, potentially, make the rear lock up first in a panic situation, so just be aware of that. Though, I actually believe the 38mm piston calipers make a better brake bias
