Where are they now
I was involved years ago performing inventory on the huge stock of vw parts the original owner/builder of the lil green giant killer car had at his home. He had passed away. I was fortunate enough to have been given the opportunity to purchase tjat car. I brought it back to Washington state snd eventually sold it to John in Gorst Wa..an avid quarter miler and vw shop owner. I'm sure he still has it.

Re: Where are they now
The town of Gorst has gotten bigger now (I was born and grew up close by).
The dragstrip (an interesting story about it and how it kept going) is still there but the Handler's car club who ran it, as I understand it, is not based in Bremerton anymore but Tacoma. If you want I can see if the one person I am still in contact with knows anything about the VW people in the area.
I didn't know there was a VW business in the area so that is interesting to find out.
I just remembered something: one of the dune guys (part of what was a large dune group) lives in Mason Lake. One day, one of the guys there (not part of that group) remembered me and asked some "why" questions. I had forgotten all about it. We are going to be at the dunes next week and if anyone is around I'll do some asking.

Been having e-mail problems (sending) but did finally get the e-mail with the question sent off. They guy I talk to is/was a car ('39 Chevrolet many-door sedan) guy also but I am not sure if he got into the main car club in the area or not.
I'm also not sure if he was aware that much of VWs that much but I should know something in a few days. There are people and then there are car people but sometimes they are also mixed up with-in the groups.

Re: Where are they now
Raining out so I did some looking around for "John".
In the town of Port Orchard WA, which is across the Sinclair Inlet bay from Bremerton WA there was a VW business named Hall N Sons Automotive (https://www.yelp.com/biz/hall-n-sons-au ... rt-orchard). In a different search I found a notice that the business was going out on (I think) Nov. 2019.
Is it the same "John"... donno but if so it might be a start now that you might have the full name.
Gorst was a small town at the end of of Sinclair Inlet where the road to Port Orchard wrapped around. There was also two other roads that ended up in Belfair WA at the end of the bend of Hood Canal. Gorst has grown quite a bit since my days over on the "Peninsula". Gorst is also not too far from the County airport which is where the drag strip is (which is roughly across a drive in theater).
