Fuel tank sender unit

Post by jonnyrock66 »

Hi all.
1970 vw 411LE variant.
Got a siezed/broken fuel tank sender unit. Cylinder type. What is everyone using as a replacement and what is the correct cylinder length for a 411le ?
Think my broken one is off a beetle. very short.
Cheers Jon

Measured a 411/412 tube- type fuel sender. Length bottom to mounting surface- 285mm.
Also measured inside tank. Replacement sender should be no longer than original, otherwise it wo'nt fit.
Sender marked VDO and numbers 21/34. No idea what the makings stand for.

Check vdo motorsport tank sensors.
Available in lots of lengths and the mounting plate is the old generic size which might be the size for a type4.
