Gauging Interest - Return Of Pauter Rockers

Post by cal 67 »

I've been in talks with the Pauter staff, and was able to get a quote. At $1000 a set, do you think there'd be interest?

Features:
1.48 ratio
Elimination of the needle bearings - direct rocker to shaft
Splash oiling for shafts, exactly like new T1 rockers
7050 aluminum instead of 7075

In the past, the oil channel was a weak point for the rockers, so new versions will still have a through-drilled adjuster to fling oil around in the rocker box.

Trying to see if I should revive these, or let it die.

Hi!

Maybe for the American market this might be interesting but in Europe we have the ratio-rockers made bei Weiss. They come in at 850Eur.After import duties and currencies that will probably exeed 1000 US dollars.

Yep. I have a set. He's redesigning them now, and I'm excited. The European market still seems like a strong candidate because of beliefs about swivel adjusters and Pauter's reputation. When I see bids on used rockers, they easily exceed $1000. I'm thinking Norway, Sweden, Australia, and Germany still are viable markets. Norway has a historic class, and everybody seems to be running ratio rockers of some sort.

I think they would sell well with those improvements you have mentioned

Have you thought about increasing the ratio at all? 1.6 or 1.7 not sure if this would cause any issues with clearance etc

The redesign would cost too much. I'm don't have much input. Pauter still has the tooling, and would use knowledge gained from their T1 rocker feedback

Not enough interest...trying to produce a steel version now in 1.5:1, but it's going terribly slow.

Not at all. They were $650 twelve years ago, and now materials prices are higher, they'd have to restart production, and inflation is always present. You do the math.

You can make two sets of special alloy rockers sets with rollers, shafts, mounts, and hardware for under a grand? Have at it....

Would be nice to have something robust like that and the higher ratio.
