Hello all long time lurker finally having to rebuild my wbx motor and have come across some post about upgrading the cam to a 2280 by CB performance . I have read ten cents threads but before I bite the bullet would like to know a bit more about the modifications needed to make this cam work. I am aware of needing the older style pump. I am more worried about the valve train mods to the rockers and springs . Currently have stock and have read that 1.1.1 works best with 2280 . And also will stock FI work with it. Idle performance. Top speed/torque curve .
Any info/experience with this cam would be greatly appreciated thank you

I've built many engines with a CB 2280. It works well at low and high speed. I don't know why you would need any changes to your valve train, but, I have not built a Vanagon waterboxxer.

I have not broken into building an engine from the bottom up but you might find more answers in the Wasserboxer/Oxyboxer Type V forum where there is a lot of experience with these engine they get more traffic than The Bus Barn.
