Ecotec help

Post by cncwhiz »

I have been texting back and forth with Matt at diyautotune. I am looking at going with an MS2. I don't know the for sure year and model of the car the motor came from. I know it is a 2.2 and the guy said its from a 2002 year car. It has a coil pack on the top and fuel injection. I am putting it in a baja but I want to make sure I get the correct setup. I want to keep it basically and don't need smog where I live.

We have been looking for the ecu service number for the last few hours. My wife found out the motor came from a 2005 chevy cobalt. Now to find out what I need from diyautotune.

Is it a drive by wire throttle body? if so you will probably need to convert to a cable throttle body.
Are you looking for a plug and play or planning on wiring it yourself? There is lots of info out there if you goggle Ecotec/megasquirt.
Good Luck

It is not a drive by wire throttle body. I have been emailing back and forth with Matt at diyautotune. He quoted me a megasquirt 2. It was to expensive for me. He came back with a microsquirt setup. I am going to contact him for a formal quote for this setup. It is a little over 500 without a wide band or sensor. I think I will go with this setup. I can at least have a direction to work towards. I will get the wide band setup when I get close to running the motor.

If I remember correctly a Microsquirt does not come with a Map Sensor so make sure you are comparing apples to apples...

I send an email to Matt asking about the map sensor.

Thanks Clone.
