The "W" engine

Offroad VW based vehicles have problems/insights all their own. Not to mention the knowledge gained in VW durability.

Is this going to be the next big craze we will have going for us?

My son works at an Audi dealership as a Auto Tech Apprentice. I'll never forget the day he called me in the middle of the afternoon to tell me he got to drive an A8 with a W12 engine. He asked if I had even heard of such an engine - luckily I had. VW-Audi developed theirs by mating two VW VR6 engines. The VR6 is is an extremely narrow angle (15 degree) V-6. Very interesting engine.

I dont know...VW has had a w8 for 20 years. They are cool and you would think some dune goon would have stuffed a w engine of some sort in a rail just because by now.
It is not Mickey Moused.....It's Desert Engineered!

One of the french lads had a W12 in the back of his buggy a while back, built it himself though:
