Tbo Chinese turbo......any one use?
I've been surfing the web and came across this Chinese company that makes the Tbo brand of turbo.
Lots of turbos to choose from ranging from t3, t3/4 to a tb73.
I've seen this brand name stamped on my t3 turbo and was curious about it's origin .
I will inquire about the prices . I'm sure buying direct from the Chinese supplier it will be cheap and the shipping is free.
Anyone using this brand of turbo ?

I have two:
One was 42/48 T3 and never gave me problems. It broke because an error I made on the oil feed line.
The other one is one of those hybrids 53/60 installed in September. Until now, no issues reported.

Good to hear they are good turbo. I checked out Allibaba and they were priced around $120 U.S. for the t3/4 .
Panel if you search up Tbo turbo that should get to to the company's web site . They make heaps of dare I say knock off turbos. I looked up the tb73 AJ sells and I believe it's the same brand and model sold by this Chinese company .
Let me know how you go ..cheers Rob

For a short time I was using an Ebay purchased Chinese turbo on my '68. Turbo worked / fit well and the quality was better than i expected for the $150 I paid for it. The only reason I'm not still using it is because the T3-50 trim I bought was too big for my 1600cc. The TD04 I replaced it with was better fit.

I just put a Chinese TD04-13t on mine. Working well so far. Haven't tried big boost on it yet though. No problems with 12 psi.

So the consensus is that the Chinese turbo's are ok as long as you don't go for big boost?
The videos on youtube of them exploding are "push it to the limit" scenarios I guess..?
I assume all the Chinese turbos are not balanced, is that correct? Is it possible that the manufacturing tolerances have become so tight that the units are very close to being balanced?
Years ago my dad had a skid steer and the turbo started blowing oil. He rebuilt it himself with a kit. He did not pay attention to the wheel orientation, just slapped it back together. That skid steer ran for many many years after...maybe he got lucky and they were re-aligned.. either way it makes me wonder about the necessity of balancing in a lower performance application..
I have not used a Chinese turbo, but the price point sure does make trying one tempting..

Update. I stopped on the way home and filled up with E85. I think I saw 27 psi (didnt check the log) and it seems to be fine. Maybe half a dozen short pulls.

Hey Josh,Ya they great for the price, I wanted to try different combo's such as .48 compared to .63, I don't have a dyno
so road testing works best for me
Probably cheaper then paying for 'Dyno time?
