Smaller lathe recommendations

Post by theKbStockpiler »

HI, I'm interested in a smaller lathe that has the motor built in so it conserves space and is otherwise non archaic. I was thinking in the lines of something like this Bolton.A older model like this would be fine as well.

Bolton Lathe

I primarily want to cut out bearing/bushing drivers and maybe cut some acme thread or something. Any recommendations? Thanks for your expertise!

I found another maker of a mid to small sized lathe.

I would love a South Bend 9 inch A lathe but the motor and drive assembly is ,well an assembly.

With the way U.S commerce is going to the birds ,I think being more resourceful could actually be a matter of survival. Edited: I think the Bolton weighs in at almost 485lbs and the Precision Matthews at about 375lbs. I don't want or need a beast but I don't want a hobbyist toy either.
