Fuel pump wiring with relay board

Post by UKLuke72 »

How is the fuel pump meant to be wired from the relay board?
I assume the +12v supply would come from the screw terminal and then grounded to the earth post. But the wiring kit from DIYA lists the purple fuel pump wire as switched ground?

It's a 20awg wire they supply, fitted a 10A fuse, should be fine. Just want to check I've got the right terminal so as to not melt the relay board!

On my Relay board I have the wire from the FP terminal going to the power side of the fuel pump.. I ground the fuel pump right at the pump.
There is a relay in the Relay board for the Fuel pump so it should put out power...not ground.

Thanks again CB,
Yeah that was exactly my thinking, was just about to run a length of cable then remembered the DiYAutotune wiring bundle I had. Purple is labeled fuel pump but in the paperwork it says FP switched ground...

Nevermind.

My memory is rusty but

Fuel pump grounded at pump
Power comes from the relay

Relay switch side gets ignition live (make sure it’s live while cranking)
And the MS GROUNDS THE RELAY switch side, to complete the circuit. Not the pump it’s self

Correct me if I’m wrong as I say I’m rusty

The ECU switches the ground side but the relay board feeds power to the FP due to having a relay for it in the board....hence why it's called a relay board.
