CB single TB blowthru

Post by John S. »

I’ve had this new CB single TB, intake and efi end castings for more than 15 years. I finally plan of getting a micro squirt system from the Dub Shop. I hardly ever see anyone using a single CB tb. Any ins or outs about them? Just still collecting parts at this point. I just want a fast street drag bug that’s not a poser. It will see the 1/4 mile.
I need fuel rails if anyone has them.

I have only thought about that single IDF style FI but have come to the bench racing conclusion that a single solex would make more sense. I don’t have any science to back that up other than this posting viewtopic.php?f=65&t=149551 (VWSpeedShop UK single TB)
Yeah some may call it overkill, but you can't have too much overkill.

I guess what I’m afraid of is it’s so huge. But, people also blow thru two of them. It’s all paid for and bolt on.

Too big I don’t that is all of it. I just think using end casting injection kind of eliminates the need for throttle body injectors (unless you want two stage fuel) plus the big deal packaging, the pressure pipe system is way simpler.

I say try it, it isn’t a bad idea

It has the injectors in the the end castings and I think I have 34lbs injectors new in the box. I have to double check the size. Also have a T25 off a Saab.

It's going to stand taller than a single TB but if in a bug you should have the room. I used a stock German FI Bug TB that I got cheap.
Any TB that turns the right way and has a TPS will work. You just need to fabricate the intake to fit it.
Injectors by the valve would probably be best but if only a race car and not street it is of lesser importance I would think.

I just planned on blowing into the side of a turbo hat. The turbo will be above the apron. And I have the parts to build a header that I’ve had in my head for years.

I like the idea and have been wanting to try that setup on an off-roader..

So I guess that's a idf style center mount system like this one?

I currently run a single large center throttle body and the efi end castings and it works well.

Not like that one. Mine is a IDF tb with a tps and the injectors(4) are in the end castings.

Another thought, you can run 3 injectors per bank super easy

I'm switching to a n/a carbed stroker build. I have all the parts and I want to have it on the road this summer.
My turbo efi combo will be a thick wall 1679. Still plan on doing it at some point.

I ran the center mounted IDF megasquirt for awhile. It was fun to drive. Image, It fits under teh decklid , and you can run a "normal" DRLA/WEBER air cleaner if you want.

Looks cool on there. How was bottom end drivability?

Does anyone think that the single 48 tb would perform as good as dual 40 dells on a 2110 n/a? Just tossing options around? I’m guessing the end castings are always the limiting factor. Thanks

Depends on what you are after. The runner length is way longer with a single TB.
