Setting up shocks
I've noticed a lot of buggies have shocks angled towards front of car and some straight up, and even some with a bit of lean towards center of trans. Is there any kind of formula for configuring correct position of shocks?

What are you running for your front suspension, e.g., stock beam, IFS or a variation of either?

Was mostly concerned with the rear IRS with 4x5 arms.

Re: Setting up shocks
At full bump you want the shock body to be 90* to the arm for the best location but most anything has been done and will work. At the 90* point the shocks end up angled towards the front of the car.

Re: Setting up shocks
To add to what no1clyde said you want to consider the two arcs. The one from the pivot point of the spring plate (If you have one) at full hang and full compression. While I don't think so, you also may have to consider the arc dictated by two CVs and axle length as things slide around.
This is one type of setup I know of.
Another way of doing things. Notice the front pivot.
Another style of pivots.
Most of this kind of stuff I have deals with front suspension.

Update: I added some wording to clarify a thought.

Re: Setting up shocks
lots of nice pics. Thanks everyone. I have same setup as last one pictured. Still saving for the front shocks with coilover. Need ideas on bump stops for aluminum beam.
