Man its humid here in PA today.... but still workin on the bug. I need to buy a tap to shorten my tie rods does any one know the thread size and pitch??? Also when I put my shims behind the beam What is the recommended bolt type and size? Will grade 8 be acceptable??
Thx Toby in sweaty, humid PA

For the shims, the stock bolt should be long enough for a single shim, you'll need a longer one if using two shims per. The tap is a M14X1.5, one end is right twist and the other is left twist.

Don't confuse DIN grade 8G/8.8 with SAE grade 8...the former is roughly equivalent to SAE grade 5; the DIN analog of SAE grade 8 is 10K/10.9.
8.8s are adequate in this application, the torque spec is only 36 lb-ft (personally I go to 45). Not a bad idea to recheck after several hundred miles' use, particularly if you're running caster shims.
