I think I might be the only one ever to encounter this issue. With that being said, I hope someone has some insight on what needs to be done here.

Let's start with my engine set up. 1835 with 041 heads, 1.1 rockers, 1.5" exhaust, Engle 125 cam. Compression is set at a very conservative 7.5:1. I know the cam is a little crazy for this compression but it's experimental.

Now for the carbs. They are 36's set up with CB Performance's update kit. However CB never made a kit for the 36's, only the 40's and up. Upon contacting CB about why a 36 kit was not available I was met with uncertainty. With this kit it replace the primary and secondary venturies with a standardized size. It also includes 1.50 mains, 1.60 air correctors, and 60 idles.

I have no knowledge of the history of these carbs. I bought them, cleaned them up and pretuned them as per the Dellorto book. Engine is in the car and about ready to be fired. Just need to finish a few things before a can turn the key. Car underwent a complete build.

So the question I guess is... will this set up work or am I setting myself up for failure? Any advice on what I should lookout for or what to expect?

NO, not setting yourself up for failure, it just seems you have lack of knowledge how to tune a dual carb setup...

Think you need to sturdy jetting according to venturi size and fuel needs.... I'm not familiar with Dels. but do tune Webers and most of the same principles apply...

Dale, I understand how to select a venturi according to displacement and rpm range, but this CB kit removes that tuning option and gives you basically a sleeve instead. There are no venturi size options. All the jets are are included in the kit, which are mentioned above. I guess it's just a plug and play and is supposed to work in all applications of that size carb. The bad thing is they don't offer a kit for the 36, so it's a kit from a 40 installed in a 36.

Dellorto's are fantastic carbs, and the 36's are perfect for an 1835. With 28mm vents and stock aux venturi, you will end up with a 50-55 idle and a 135 something main (guess). Everyone that I have met in person, or read about online, or emailed, that use the CB update kit, had to jet it rich to get the car to run acceptably. Why that is an "update" is a mystery to me..
Look at the profile of the ring in the auxiliary venturi, think about how an airplane wing creates high and low pressure, and you will get an idea as to how the main jet circuit uses airflow to draw fuel through the jet. The update kit removes this component and replaces it with one that doesn't work (in my experience) nearly as well. I have a bunch of their spray bars sitting, that I expect will be scrap.
